I'm Frustrated

Dear God: I’m fat and I’m frustrated—but I guess not quite enough to do anything about it. I cringe every time I hear on the news that Americans are getting fatter...

I Love Fall

Dear God: What a glorious day. The leaves just turning their beautiful colors — gold, red, yellow, burgundy. A walk in the woods with my grandsons turned into a wonderful teaching time and exploration about you and your creation.

Time For School

Dear God: School has started. Today I pray Your very special blessing on all educational institutions.

Sometimes I Doubt

Dear God: I was hit with a surging wave of doubt today. About You. Please forgive me, but I’m sometimes bombarded by the fact that everything about You, every claim You make, is invisible and has to be taken on faith.

My Child Is Hurting

Dear God: It's hard being a parent when I see my child experiencing something painful that I can't do anything about. My son is depressed and lonely. Help him take his medication.

Resurrection Hope

Dear God: Thank you for the Easter season that reaffirms our faith, trust and hope in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He gives us the hope to which we cling—"Because I live—you too shall live."

Exposing Your Grace

Dear God: It's a new day and I thank You for bringing me to it; for the benefits of rest and renewal. I just finished reading about when Jesus healed several people of their physical problems.

Sand Dollars and Snow

Dear God: Thank you for making our world so diverse. I used to live in the Midwest where it's cold much of the Winter, but once, when I lived there, I went to Florida and collected shells on a sunny beach.

Discouragement

Dear God: Be there for every person who is discouraged. For those who feel like giving up and calling it quits.

My Adversary

Dear God: I’m exhausted and feel like I’ve been fighting a war with one hand tied behind my back. I have misjudged my opponent.

Compliments

Dear God: It’s amazing how one word of praise can change a day! Heading out to the car after our small-group meeting last Thursday...

Holy Spirit

Dear God: It’s such an incredible gift of your Holy Spirit. Thank you. It’s impossible to picture your Spirit ministering throughout our lost and hurting world, but the Bible assures us of his omnipresent power.

Merry Christmas God

Dear God: The good news of salvation is the best news our world has ever heard! None of us deserves the grace you offer.

Holiday Stress

Dear God: I'm stressed out! Christmas is just around the corner and there's way too much going on! The traffic is crazy and I keep bumping into people who are downright rude!

Only Jesus Satisfies

When it comes to God's gifts, one of our greatest problems is not that we're unaware of them, but that we don't receive them. Most people read the Bible for information, not transformation; they don't really "eat" or ingest it. Let's look at what the Bible says is as satisfying as the finest meal: "Because your love is better than life, my soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods" (Psalm 63:3-5). Is that true for you? Does God's love satisfy you as much as an elegant meal or an incredible dessert? God's love will satisfy us - if we receive it. In fact, the only thing that truly satisfies is intimacy with God. Everything else leaves us hungry.

Jeremiah said, "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight," (Jeremiah 15:16). When we receive God's words into our lives, we are actually receiving Jesus Himself. In this way, we can really experience what His love is like because He is the essence of love.

God Is My Strength

The Lord God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hinds' feet, and makes me walk on my high places.

Above the Earth

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.

Your Delights

They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.

Weep and Mourn

And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more.
